Sneezing Season: Fixes for Allergy Relief

Judilynn
The snow is all but melted and the daffodils are starting to spring up through the ground. We are hearing the birds chirp more loudly. And the eerie sound of that awful allergy season has approached. Everywhere you turn lately someone is sneezing or coughing with spring allergies. Yes folks it is here again. Prepare for the Sneezing Season, better known as allergy time.

Our family always seems hit particular hard with spring time allergies. Wither it is to grass pollen or the oak tree's brand new leaves outside my back door, someone here is always complaining of the headache, the stuffy nose, sneezing, coughing, sore throat and the list goes on. So what do we do here for allergy season? That is what do we do besides buy enough Kleenex to supply a small nation?

There are lots of things you can do, without seeing your doctor, for your allergies. Always keep in mind though your doctor or natural practitioner are there to help you and to give you sound medical advice and guidance. A doctor can give you prescriptions to help ease your allergy symptoms, and can diagnose any other problems that might be going on. It is important to always consult your doctor.

The first allergy relief method I am going to bring up, may seem pretty obvious, but is still very important. Allergens are all around us, not just in the spring. Indoor and outdoor allergies are year round for many people. Indoor pollution, as it has started to be called, is a big allergy causer. Many people make their homes air tight in the winter, and for good reason, to keep warm. Making your house airtight though has a down side. There is no fresh air circulating through your home, and the air is often polluted with dust, smoke and other containments. In the spring we often start opening windows and doors to let the air in and circulate in our "stale" homes. Now we are adding even more allergens into an already full house. Check your filters. Change them often. It is recommended that you change your furnace or air conditioning intake filter at least once a month. You may find that you need to change it more often. Check it at least once a week. If it is covered in dust and dirt it is time to put in a new one. There are on the market now filter that are for allergies. These filters filter out more of the allergy causing pollutants in the air of our home. Though they may be a bit more money they may well be worth it in the long run.

The second relief method I want to bring up is a sweet one. Many people find that local honey helps with their outdoor allergies. Honey contains bits of pollen. If you are using a locally produced honey then it will have bits of the pollens that are causing your allergy symptoms. This helps you in the same way that an allergy shot from the doctor would help you. The pollens in the honey are in small doses and often are beneficial in allergy treatment. Honey is best when raw, that is unpasteurized, and as locally produced as you can get. Honey is quite safe for most people, but should never be given to children under the age of one.

A third relief from allergies that can be done at home is an overall health method. Our bodies can better handle our allergies if we are eating healthy. This may sound very old school, but in truth it is very much right on the mark. Make sure that you eat your vegetables. These contain many things that help combat allergic reactions. Fish oils are also good as they have anti-inflammatory properties. You may want to consider taking a supplement.

Always keep in mind that your doctor should be consulted. They can give you advice and guidance as well as have you allergy tested if your allergies call for it. There are many people out there that suffer from allergies, and allergies are notoriously bad in the spring when all is in bloom. Keep in mind that healthy eating, clean fresh air and a bit of sweet may help you out in the long run!
