Snickers Adventure Bar: Limited Edition Candy for the New Indiana Jones Movie

I felt a bit adventurous today as I checked out at my local 7-11. Sitting on the counter was a display of special limited edition Snickers bars that were calling my name. The display box and candy wrapper featured imagery promoting the new Indiana Jones movie, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which is currently listed as coming out on May 22nd on the official Indiana Jones Web site. The up and coming Indiana Jones movie is certainly something to be excited over but it was something else that caught my attention on the Snickers display, the word "coconut".

On the back of the Snickers wrapper it states "Satisfy your taste for adventure! Rich chocolate. Crunchy nuts. And a cliffhanger kick of exotic spice and a hint of sweet coconut flavor." Wait. Coconut in a Snickers bar? Really? I love Snickers candy bars and I love coconut so I was open to trying this new limited edition flavor out.

OK, first let's start with the nutritional facts. The serving size is a 1.87 OZ 53 G candy bar. Calories per candy bar is 250, 110 from fat, 12 g total fat, 5g saturated fat, 5mg cholesterol, 180mg sodium, 32g carbs, 1g fiber, 27g sugar, 4g protein, 4% calcium, 2% iron, 2% thiamine, 2% riboflavin, and 8% niacin. Ingredients include milk chocolate, peanuts, corn syrup, sugar, milkfat, skim milk, salt, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, lactose, egg whites, chocolate, artificial and natural flavors. This product may include almonds.

Now that we've listed all of the nutritional facts and ingredient information it's time to move on to the fun part, the taste test. Just how will this limited edition Snickers Adventure Bar taste? As I take my first bite of the Snickers Adventure Bar my mouth is greeted with the familiar taste of a Snickers bar, and then something happens. This candy bar has some kick! I can easily taste some extra spice in the Snickers bar along with an ever so slight hint of coconut. The coconut flavor becomes more apparent as an aftertaste from eating the Snickers bar. It is definitely an interesting taste to say the least! The new flavor additions certainly add to the original flavor of the Snickers bar. In fact, I found the bar to be so tasty and addicting, just like the original Snickers bar, that I ate the whole thing without guilt and without sharing. As far as satisfying my hunger, a claim often made by the Snickers bar, it hit the spot. With the addition of a glass of milk I found this to be a rather fulfilling after dinner snack.

The Limited Edition Snickers Adventure Bar isn't just available at the 7-11. I have also spotted the Snickers bar on the shelves of several area grocery stores such as Albertsons and Safeway. I purchased my Snickers Adventure Bar for just 55 cents at my local 7-11 which isn't a bad price for candy in the present day. If you are in the mood for something chocolate, and let's face it many of us often are, then I recommend trying out the Snickers Adventure Bar. Remember this Snickers bar is a limited edition and won't be available for long. Two thumbs up and a must-try!
