Snikiddy Gluten Free Healthy Snacks Product Review Cheetos Alternative

Snikiddy Grilled Cheese Puffs Baked Corn Puffs No Preservatives

I became aware of Snikiddy through a coupon promotion on the internet. The snikiddy web site lists the many stores that carry their snacks, but my store only carried the All natural Grilled Cheese puffs. The bag was 4 ounces and about the physical size of potato chips or cheetos. The bag was lighter feeling than a bag of potato chips or cheetos however due to the corn puffs being baked.

Snikiddy has no corn syrup and is both gluten and wheat free. That is good news for anyone with Celiac Disease or gluten or wheat allergies. The retail price at my store was $2.75. I am not sure if it ever goes on sale, but you may get a coupon at their web site if you request one or get on their mailing list.

Snikiddy also boast that it has no hydrogenated oils and no trans fat. Additionally there are no preservatives and it is low in saturated fat. All of these features truly make it an "all natural" snack item.

The sodium content for this salty tasting snack is 250 mg per serving which is also good compared to many other snack items. Looking at their list of ingredients the first item listed is cornmeal. The third item listed is cheddar cheese. Although Snikiddy calls these Grilled cheese puffs, to me they taste like cornmeal puffs with a hint of cheese. Since I like the taste of corn and I like things like corn bread and corn muffins and corn chips and corn taco shells and corn, well I happen to like the Snikiddy Grilled Cheese Puffs. If I was wanting something really cheesy tasting as a snack though, I don't think the snikiddy would do it for me. I would probably opt for cheese type crackers or maybe just cheese. As far as a tasty healthy snack goes I would definitely put Snikiddy in that category.

Another thing I was impressed with Snikiddy is the expiration date! The expiration date on the bag I purchased was good for 6 months. That is fantastic freshness shelf life if you are used to expiration dates on bags of cheetos and potato chips. I have found the non healthy snack foods to have less freshness shelf life, and this is ironic since those products actually do have preservatives. Also each serving is only 120 calories which is great for a bagged salty type snack.

If I were making a gift basket of healthy snacks for someone, I would definitely include snikiddy. They are crunchy and tasty and have the texture of the unhealthy cheese puffs, but are much healthier.
