SNL -- Amy Adams -- Vampire Weekend

Crutnacker
Opening -- Clinton/ Obama Commercial

Rating: 3

Wow, three shows since the strike, and three Clinton/Obama sketches. Fred Armisen's Barack needs work. Long pretaped skit that wasn't funny except for::

Obama: "Is Bill there?"
Clinton: "It's 3 AM, what do you think?"

Monologue

Rating: 4

Kristen Wiig does look a lot like Amy Adams. They sing a song called "What is this Feeling" from the musical Wicked which helps showcase their talents, but is only slightly amusing.

Rating: 5

Was it just me or at the end of that sketch did Kristin Wiig's shrug look like she knew it was crap as well? The only funny thing was the sounds made when each of them winked. It looks like the monologue bit about both of them looking so much alike is going to play out in this episode.

Psychiatrists Office -- Green Card Marriage

Rating: 8

Okay, this one is so out there that I found myself laughing. "There is the McDonald's. Never enough McDonalds" had me laughing.

Digital Short -- Singing Superhero

Rating: 9

A gloriously overwrought song had me wondering where it was going. As soon as Andy Samberg turned into the superhero, I knew the song was going to get derailed and he'd get hurt. It happened, but it still had me laughing, even more so when the mugger picked up the mailbox and hit him with it. Funny, silly, and violent.

Fierce -- The Hot Mess Makeover Show

Rating: 5

Maybe this would be funnier if I watched Project Runway. It seemed like a 4 minute sketch based on a 5 second concept.

Vampire Weekend

Rating: 3

Wow, what an adorably kitsch sound. I see cutout bins and regretful fans in their future.

Weekend Update

Rating: 6

Obvious jokes again. Tim Calhoun was a nice surprise, and his dumb jokes always make me laugh. The joke about a small gun being used for "Elf defense" was also funny. Still, the news needs a stronger presence than Seth and Amy. Neither one has the attitude or the ability to sell it, and neither one copes well when the jokes bomb.

Driver's Ed -- Penelope

Rating: 7

Lots of people seem to love Penelope and her tall tales. I'm not one of them. Still, I did start to laugh as Penelope and the Driving Instructor both started to compete for tall tales, with the capper, "That's my eye on the dollar bill." Funniest skit of the night.

Dr. Uncle Jimmy's Smokehouse And Outpatient Facility

Rating: 3 or 8

What the hell was that? Was that so stupid it was funny or so stupid it was stupid? Something tells me that people will think that was funnier tomorrow.

Roger Clemens Presents

Rating: 7

So silly it was funny.

Tookie Styles Show

Rating: 0

That was the most horrible sketch I've seen in ages. Seriously. Kenan just makes me tired, and his sketches are usually this horrible.

Vampire Weekend

Rating: 6

This song's a bit catchier, but it still sounds like the Electric VERY Light Orchestra. I don't care if they're SPIN Magazine's Best Artist.

High School Friends Out At a Bar

Rating: 6

Another completely silly sketch. But slightly amusing. More so than most of the junk that preceded it.

Overall Rating: 4

I counted 23 writers on the end credits. 23 people can't write something better than this? Amy Adams seemed game for anything, and they wrote her pure drivel. The show is now 0 for 3 since the Writer's Strike and is relying on the Obama/Clinton sketches to carry it. Let's hope for a recovery before the May sweeps.
