SNL/Ben Affleck to Mock Keith Olbermann on Saturday Night

Politico's Michael Calderone is reporting that Saturday Night Live is rehearsing a skit "portraying Olbermann as a deranged person living at home with his mother." A source at the rehearsal that was closed to the public says that Affleck, who is playing Keith Olbermann, became uncomfortable when Olbermann himself showed up to watch.

On Saturday night, Ben Affleck is hosting "SNL" for the 4th time in his career and rumors are swirling that Senator John McCain will be making a surprise visit. Tomorrow night's broadcast is shaping up to make lots of headlines leading into the November 4th election.

In fact, McCain's possible appearance could give him a much needed last minute boost in the polls, as it did during the Democratic primaries when Tina Fey endorsed Hillary Clinton. Before that February 24th episode, Clinton was losing ground in her pursuit for the necessary delegates to win the Democratic nomination, but Fey's endorsement may have boosted Clinton to prolonging victories in Texas and Ohio days later on the March 4th primary.

McCain has long been friendly with SNL, hosting the show in 2002 and making various guest appearances over the years. If McCain is able to take some shots at the liberal commentator Keith Olbermann, Barack Obama's primetime infomercial, and gain some positive headlines, he could gain some momentum for the big showdown on Tuesday.

Perhaps what he really needs is an endorsement from Tina Fey.
