According to E! Online, SNL funnyman Fred Armisen and Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss have announced their engagement. Moss told usweekend.com, "It happened just a few days ago. It's private, so I don't want to share the details of how it happened, but I will say it was perfect."

The announcement comes as something of a shock, as Moss and Armisen's relationship was only recently confirmed less than a week ago. They had been spotted together at the Vanity Fair Party for Mad Men, as well as at Moss' Broadway production, Speed-the-Plow.

The New York Times followed along with Armisen when he went to visit Moss after her show last week.

"I thought about trying to do something cool, like see a band," Armisen said in the interview, "But then I thought we could just hang out with my girlfriend, Lizzie, after her show, and play Rock Band like I'd normally do."

Though Elisabeth Moss has only recently become a rising star in television playing Peggy Olson in Mad Men, she has been acting since the age of six. Besides her role as Peggy, Moss is probably best known for her seven seasons on the NBC hit show, The West Wing, playing the President's daughter.

Recently, Moss had a recurring role as a villain on ABC's sci-fi series Invasion and guest starred in many other television shows, including Medium, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Law & Order: Trial By Jury, Grey's Anatomy, Ghost Whisperer and The Practice.

Though Moss' main medium is television, she is no stranger to film. She has been featured in Ron Howard's The Missing; Girl Interrupted alongside Angelina Jolie and Winona Ryder; A Thousand Acres opposite

and Michelle Williams; The Joyriders with Martin Landau; Imaginary Crimes with Harvey Keitel and Gypsy with Bette Midler.

Ever since his debut on SNL in 2003, Fred Armisen has been making people laugh with his eccentric characters. However, comedy wasn't always the first thing on his mind. Armisen's first love was music and he began playing drums at the age of 10. He dropped out of the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan and joined the early 1990s punk band, Trenchmouth. Later, he played drums for the Chicago branch of the Blue Man Group..

One of his first experiences with comedy was a short film called, Fred Armisen's Guide to Music and SXSW. He played an oddball bucktoothed journalist touring the South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas, who asked strange questions or just pointed his microphone at passersby and interviewees.

Appearances on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien", "Crank Yankers," and "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" helped bring Armisen into the spotlight before he landed the gig on SNL. Some of his best work includes the drummer Mackey, who provided badly timed rim shots for aging comedian Buddy Mills (Chris Kattan). Most recently, Armisen has been playing newly elected President, Barack Obama.

Short courtships are not so uncommon in Hollywood, but I think this match looks promising.
