Snobs and Nosy Neighbors

May Be in Your Neighborhood

Denise
Have you ever moved into a delusional neighborhood of people who think they are more than what they are? Well, welcome to Illusia. It is a place where average people parade around as if they talk to the president on a daily basis. The appropriate word to define these people are snobs. When one thinks of snobs rich and noble comes to mind. In fact, the snobs of the past were nobility and the rich who set themselves above everyone else. The snobs wanted certain special things that no one else can get. Moreover, they invite other people like themselves to be apart of their circle. The have a lot's and have not's can hardly be friends.

The employees of the have a lots tend to be more snooty than their bosses. Perhaps this is due to the fact that the snob chose them out of everyone else to hire. In the case of the nosy neighbors of the average working class to middle class level, it must be examined. To further investigate this, one should consider how the original snobs think. The origins of Snobs is a slang used by college school boys in England as sine nobilitate which referred to people without a title, or nobility. The Nobs were people of nobility. The snobs were the rich sons of manufacturers who had a habit of carrying themselves in a swelled way. Nowadays, the punk and hip hop community view the rich as spoiled individuals who can get anything they want. The upper class is also viewed as having more protection than the average person.

The high brow's view the people without privilege, wealth, education and lifestyle as inferior. It seems like the whole snobbery thing is about what one has above everyone else. Therefore, those who have can afford to have the best of everything, and lavish imports on top of that. On the other hand, those who cannot afford to have their basic needs must have cheap hand me downs, or something on the verge of ruin. There is an ever widening gap in society that has separated us from poverty to elite. Meaning, everything matters from clothing to your career to your home to your friends. If people watch and talk about you on your street think about it.

You might not be doing anything out of the ordinary, or causing any trouble. However, you may be the only adult walker on your street when everyone else has a car. This means that you do not have enough money, and do not have a good job. Your clothing indicated that also. Do not forget the furniture you may have brought into the neighborhood. Those nosy neighbors know salvation army when they see it. Once they discover your economic status, fear may enter their minds about you. Do not be surprised if someone tells you about cops blocking off the street, and if something happened in your house. You may hear helicopters circling around your area, and see strange cars parked on the street. They think that if you are poor without a good job, you must be a drug dealer. The best thing to do in such a neighborhood is to stick to the practices of everyone else. If you get the funds, you can get serious revenge. You should fix up your area until your home is worth more than theirs. They will feel the pressure to do the same. Perhaps if you renovate your entire house, they will think twice before looking down on you again.

You don't have to tell him anything. The best thing to do is to tell him that you don't feel comfortable talking about that. If he persists, then just tell him to 'look it up on Google' so to speak and hopefully he will get the point.

I have a neighbor who's a real nice guy. He's got this habit of asking what I pay for every thing I buy, or have added on our property. In the past, I've made up prices to give him. He's even had the gall to ask what I paid for my home. I made up a phoney price for the house, too. I'm trying to find a way to deal with him, because I don't want him around, anymore. Any suggestions?
