The first single off of Ego Trippin' is Sexual Eruption, produced by Shawty Redd. The song is definitely not what you would expect from a Snoop Dogg song. The track finds Snoop singing with the help of Antares Autotune. The song has a T-Pain vibe to it. The song is very refreshing and one of the stronger Snoop singles in recent memory. The song has extreme mainstream appeal.
The second single is Life Of Da Party featuring Mistah F.A.B. and Too Short. The song should definitely appeal to Snoop's West Coast fans. However the song has a very limited appeal besides that fan base.
Neva Hafta Worry features Uncle Chuck. The song is a traditional West Coast song. The song is harder than most of the tracks on the album and not really commercially viable.
Sets Up is produced by The Neptunes. The track definitely has a very commercial feel to it and a chorus delivered by Pharrell Williams. However the song just does not have the magic of previous Snoop and Pharrell hits.
Cool is a cover of the classic Morris Day and The Time song of the same name. The song is definitely different than what you would expect from Snoop. Surprisingly as on Sexual Eruption, Snoop Dogg is revealed to be an average vocalist.
Been Around The World is an ode for Snoop's wife Shante. The beat is definitely catchy and interesting melodically. The song shows a much softer side of Snoop and the track is solid.
My Medicine is definitely the most unique track on the album. The song as described by Snoop is in the vein of Johnny Cash. The song is very Nashville friendly and will not appeal at all to his hardcore fan base.
The album closes out with Can't Say Goodbye featuring Uncle Charlie Wilson of The Gap Band. The song is one of the more uplifting songs on the album. The song has a very motivational feel to it and is one of the more solid tracks on the album.
Ego Trippin' is a mixed bag. The first single definitely outshines the rest of the album. Ego Trippin' gets 7 out of 10 for delivery and 10 out of 10 for creativity. If you are a fan of Snoop Dogg make sure you pick up Ego Trippin' when it is available in stores on March 11.
