Snow Blind

Suburban Poetry

I live in a neighborhood
surrounded by neighbors
who only speak in response.

Two houses down
they clear their snow
and wave hello

Later on,
I know,
praise will ring
from neighbors next door
who other neigbors helped.

I will hear the tales,
in response to my hello,
about how neighbor
helped neigbor in the snow.

That day when
I shoveled my snow alone,
except for when someone waved in response.
