SNOW DAY

Kathryn Neff Perry
I suppose it could be my fault.
Remember last week when we had 60 and 70 degree weather? I spent an entire day washing sweaters. I even dried them outside. I folded and put them away for the "winter".
I took all our wool slacks and coats to the cleaners'"to be cleaned and "sealed" until next winter.
I moved all my warm clothes to the other closet and got all my spring clothes, shoes and light weight jackets out and ready to wear.
I even bought a new bathing suit (one size larger than last year.)
I'm convinced however, that my last act was the one responsible for the latest dump of white powder upon us. Several weeks ago I washed and waxed my car (which usually brings on the rain'"I call it my modern day rain dance.)
That same afternoon Amy was riding her bike, and had just changed to shorts.
I decided it was time. I had waited most of the winter to buy a new mailbox, because the snow ploy almost always knocks it off or just the snow from the plow dents it.
'˜After I mounted the new mailbox I made Amy come out and tell me how pretty it was. I told her I was going to plant flowers around it.
Two days later school was cancelled, snow day.
