We purchased a Snow Joe snow thrower, Model No. 322P at Lowes. It was inexpensive at $99.99, lightweight, small enough for easy storage, and electric. Assembly of the Snow Joe was relatively easy, following the provided instructions. We did purchase a heavy duty, outdoor use, utility cord knowing that it would be to our benefit and ease of use. The Snow Joe was placed in our garage, awaiting the first snowfall. Wow! Now we wondered, would it do the job? Would it be powerful enough to remove the snow we needed to remove? Time, and snow, would tell.
The first snow of the year was typical, around three inches. My husband put on his coat, hat, gloves and boots and set out to clear the snow from our drive using our new Snow Joe snow thrower. It did a great job. The snow was easily removed. The Snow Joe was truly easy to use; the light weight made it easy to maneuver. However, the snow thrower does not have any wheels and you need to scoot it across the area with the snow; that is a bit awkward to begin and seems strange. But, the Snow Joe did its job and the snow was quickly removed. Since it is electric, it was nice to be able to just plug it in; no need for gas/oil mixtures, or gas, and no fumes.
Our next snowfall was not typical! We got twenty inches of snow. Oh no! We did not plan on that sort of accumulation. Would our new Snow Joe be of any use at all? Well, I can assure you that it was. To begin removing that much snow with the small snow thrower, we first shoveled off a few inches of the top snow, and then used the Snow Joe as usual. It was great. We did use a combination of the snow shovel to remove some of the top snow, and then the Snow Joe to remove the bottom snow, but it was much easier and faster than we had expected.
You can see the two snowfalls described if you click on the attached photos; and you can see the Snow Joe being used. We are pleasantly pleased with the purchase of the Snow Joe snow thrower. Little did we know what we would be facing in the amount of snow to be removed; we are pleased with our purchase and with the ability of the Snow Joe to remove the snow.
