Snowiest Winters in Philadelphia History

Joe Dorish
These are the ten snowiest years or winters in Philadelphia history dating back to 1884 as reported by the National Weather Service. Each year begins in October and carries over into April of the next year.

The average annual snowfall for the city of Philadelphia is 20.5". Every winter or year on this list at least doubles that amount and the top snowiest winter or year ever in Philadelphia history is almost four times the annual average snowfall.

Three of the ten snowiest years or winters in Philadelphia history have all occurred in the last 14 years including the top year of 2009-2010 which shattered the old record by well over a foot of snow. The old record was set just 14 years ago so the top two years are very recent considering the data dates back 126 years.

Since the two snowiest winters in Philadelphia history are recent combined with the fact that 5 of the 10 snowiest days in Philadelphia history also occurred in the last 14 years including the 3 snowiest days ever anybody living in the Philadelphia area has every right to question the validity of global warming.
