Peanut Butter Jar Snowman
In Texas, we don't have White Christmases, so to have a snowman we have to make our own. With an old peanut butter jar and some other supplies, you can make one too.
To begin, gather these supplies: a large size peanut butter jar with lid, cotton balls, black buttons, twigs, scissors, orange felt scrap, red pom pom, glue, and masking tape.
First, try to remove the Jif label from the peanut butter jar by soaking it in warm water. For the body of the snowman, stuff the jar with cotton balls.
Carefully, place two black buttons in the front of the jar between the cotton balls and the jar for the snowman's buttons.
Use the orange felt for the snowman's nose and slip it in the jar above the buttons. The remaining two buttons will go above the nose and be the snowman's eyes.
Place the twigs on each side of the jar to make arms for your snowman.
Put the lid on and then a piece of tape on top. The red pom pom will go on top of the tape in the center and be a festive red hat!
You can experiment with other craft materials for the eyes, nose, and buttons however you prefer. Give your snowman a theme. If you live in the south, make a cowboy hat out of red felt!
Ziploc Bag Snowmen
With a large ziploc bag, and packing peanuts, you can make a snowman to sit in your windowsill this winter.
First gather up a large ziploc bag, packing peanuts, string, scissors, orange/black paper scraps, twigs, ruler, red sock, glue, green pom pom, and some fabric scraps.
First, fill the bottom half of the ziploc bag with packing peanuts. Use string to tie the bag closed. This will form the bottom half of the snowman. Now fill the upper part of the ziploc bag with more packing peanuts. This will be the snowman's head.
Use the black paper to cut two eyes for the snowman and use the orange paper for the carrot nose. Place the pieces inside the bag for the face of the snowman. Tie the top of the bag closed with more string.
Use the toe of a red sock for the snowman's hat and place over the snowman's head. Glue the green pom pom on top of the hat.
Use some old fabric scraps to make a scarf for the snowman and tie it around the neck.
