It is hard to believe that in America there is so much hatred and disapproval of gays that they would desecrate a military funeral. I live in Murray, Kentucky and just 30 miles from me is May field, Kentucky where 300 Muslims want a permit for a mosque, which was denied but is now being appealed. As well as Southwest is Memphis, Tennessee where Muslims are being welcomed into a local church while their Islamic Center is being built.
It is hard to admit but I have strong opinions about the Muslim religion. While I admit that not all Muslims are connected to the Taliban, from what I understand about the Muslim religion and the Koran, Muslims hate all Christians and Jews. Allah tells Muslims to take neither Jews nor Christians for friends and for anyone who does take them as friends, they shall become one with them, because Allah does not guide wrongdoers.
It seems to me that all Americans especially Christians and Jews should understand the Koran, which Muslims live by and should be leery of any Muslim, if not all Muslims everywhere. It also saddens me to see Christians such as in Memphis so blinded by ignorance of the Muslim faith that they would allow the Muslims to use their church to practice their faith. Luckily Mayfield, Kentucky is hopefully going to uphold their right to deny the Muslims permit for a mosque.
Don't get me wrong the right to freedom of speech and religion is something I will continually fight for, however I also understand that if the religion you practice shows intolerance and contempt for Jews and Christians such as myself than I feel I have the right to stand against it. As well as the thought of building a mosque in New York so near the epicenter of the destruction of the towers is down right appalling and disrespectful to Americans everywhere, especially to those that lost loved ones during September 11th and our servicemen and women now fighting overseas.
Another closing thought is how can Christians in Memphis open their doors to Muslims, yet other Christians have so much hatred for gays that they would desecrate a funeral procession such as Lance Corporal Matthew Snyder's.
