So Who is Prettier? Natalie Portman or Devendra Banhart?
Beauty and the Beast Or, Beauty and the Hairy Beauty
Well, it's official. Maybe. According to theblemish.com, actress Natalie Portman "might" be dating indie folk singer Devendra Banhart. The website compares Banhart, who has often sported a full beard since his debut album in 2002, to the Wolfman.
And yes, he is one hairy beast. So why shouldn't Portman, a stunner who has starred in such films as Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace, and the recently release The Other Boleyn Girl, find something worth exploring in Banhart? They're both young, attractive and talented, and Banhart, who seems comfortable with his metrosexuality, is dark and ruggedly handsome, and may, just may, be as pretty as Portman.
If I had to pick who is prettier, though, I would have to side with Portman. Let's face it Natalie's a knockout in any century.
Banhart is, well, hairy.
Judging by his lyrics, Banhart hints at a kind of sexually neutral sophistication. Take his song "Little Boys" for example. "I see so many little boys I want to marry, I see plenty little kids I've yet to have."
Maybe that's what Portman finds appealing about him; an all-in-one buddy for all occasions. The hairy girlfriend who can sleep over while sleeping over.
It's not surprising that Portman, born Natalie Hershlag in Jerusalem, and attended Harvard, would have complicated tastes in men. She's an international star who appears firmly grounded. Obviously she isn't intimidated by Banhart's good looks.
Let's face it, most guys would love to be as psychedelically hip and sexually amorphic as Devendra. As Woody Allen said, "Being bi-sexual doubles your chance of getting a date." But most guys can't pull it off convincingly.
I think Banhart knows what he's got, and he flaunts it. To quote from his official website's biography, "let him be, let him bleed, let him shine."

Post a CommentDevendra is my #2 favorite person in the world. Natalie P. barely makes it into my top 100. So there's my opinion.
