Curses upon curses, just as I settled down to watch the August 5 episode of 'So You Think You Can Dance,' a thunderstorm came along and wreaked havoc on my digital cable. The power didn't go out, but the TV did and I couldn't get it to reboot.

I learned from a quick internet search this morning that Ade'Chike' Torbert had been voted off SYTYCD. Not a huge surprise, considering he received negative criticism from the judges almost every time he took to the stage. To his credit he stayed in the game almost to the end.

Kent, Lauren and Robert

So this leaves Kent Boyd, Lauren Froderman and Robert Roldan to compete next week. Unless something freaky happens Kent will most likely win, even though Lauren and Robert are extremely talented.

One thing I like about Kent is that he is comfortable with who he is and makes no apologies, even if this means admitting on live TV that he's not the biggest, baddest boy out there. Earlier in the season when Judge Mia Micahels commented on Kent's animated expression during his dance routines, he replied with "That's who I am."

Honest Kent Boyd is a Disco Duck

When he danced Disco on the August 4 episode, Executive Producer and Judge Nigel Lythgoe noted that Kent hadn't lifted his dance partner as many times he could have. "I'm not big," said Kent, with no trace of apology on his face or in his voice. Lythgoe went on to say Disco dancing is tough and he thought Kent did a great job.

Maybe it's that honesty that gives Kent an edge, plus that lithe body. Even though Lauren and Robert are appealing and wonderful dancers, it's all up to the voters now. It doesn't hurt that Kent has never been in the bottom three and Lauren and Robert have.

Earlier in the season some viewers thought Robert came across as arrogant, and when Lauren landed in the bottom three last week, Lythgoe mused that young women watching the show might not be as likely to vote for the girl as they would for the guys.

Nothing to do now but wait and see how it goes on the next episode of 'So You Think You Can Dance."
