'So You Think You Can Dance' August 5, 2010: Will Kent Boyd Win It?

Dancer Will Be Eliminated Tonight: Did You Vote?

Time is winding down for the last four competitors on SYTYCD and it's up to the viewers to select the winner. On the August 4, 2010 episode, Lauren Froderman, Robert Roldan, Ade'Chike' Torbert and Kent Boyd each danced twice with All-Stars.

Judges Nigel Lythgoe, Mia Michaels and Adam Shankman were joined by guest judge Tyce Diorio to critique the performances.

Lauren Froderman Can Dance

"My God, I wanted to dance with you," Lythgoe told Lauren, who danced first with an All-Star partner. Michaels declared the routine "absolutely mesmerizing," and Shankman quoted Sting, saying "every little thing you do is magic."

Lauren put on a strong and sexy performance for her second dance, with Lythgoe saying she deserved to be in the finale. Michaels like it too, but would have preferred more ferociousness.

Proposition 8 Proposal?

Shankman took the opportunity to comment on California's Proposition 8, which was overturned by a federal judge Wednesday, giving gay and lesbian couples equal rights to marry. Then he said he would like to ask Lythgoe, his colleague and friend to marry him.

Lythgoe played along, saying he would normally say no, but had been lonely lately. Hmm, I'd say the end of the season is near and the judges are getting tired, although they no longer have the pressure of deciding who stays and who goes.

Can Ade'Chike Please Mia Michaels?

Ade'Chike' danced an African Jazz routine with All-Star Lauren, which looked pretty good to me, but what do I know? Lythgoe said Ade'Chike' needed to loosen up, although he went on to say Ade'Chike' obviously enjoyed the dance and that it was enjoyable to watch.

Michaels didn't care for the performance and was looking for something more from it, and from his second dance as well. I'm starting to wonder if Ade'Chike' will ever be able to please her--or if he'll even get the chance since one contestant will be sent home during the Thursday night program.

Robert Roldan is a Prince

Robert had a good night; he was praised for his carriage and dubbed a prince by the judges. He managed to wow them during his second routine, even though he was dressed as a clown with red lips, a black, white and pink jacket and an orange bow-tie.

"You really showed up to this piece," said Diorio. You took it and made it magic." Michaels declared it perfect and Shankman said Robert outdanced his All-Star partner. But what will the viewers say? Robert, not always a favorite of the voters, has been listed in the bottom three a couple of times.

Kent Boyd and Disco Dance

Kent, who has a strong chance of winning this year, danced a Disco with his All-Star partner. Lythgoe praised Kent for a good performance of a tough dance. Michaels, though, said it was "a little rough" and it was the worst Kent had danced all season long. Boos ensued, even more so after Shankman said Michael's critique was not totally wrong.

"I'm not marrying you, now," Lythgoe quipped.

Kent redeemed himself with Michaels during his second routine, which he danced with an All-Star. In fact, Michaels was so overwhelmed she could barely speak. Diorio liked it too, saying excellence had been delivered by the dancer, choreographer and All-Star.

Tune in Thursday, August 5 to see who will dance and who will stay.
