So You Want a Six Pack

Terri
Do you want a six pack that shows? I hear a lot of people say they wish they had a six pack. I want to share my opinions with you on this issue.

I believe everyone has a six pack. Let's talk about why we can not see it.

The problem is your abs are hiding behind that extra belly fat that most people carry on them. What can you do about it? Well, the obvious answer is you need to lose the fat.

Most people think that abdominal exercises alone are the key to having a six pack, but I don't believe that's true at all. You can do all the abdominal exercises you want in better form than anyone else, but if you do not fuel your body with proper nutrition and lose the excess body fat, you will fail in your attempts to get a set of six packs you can show off. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of good abdominal exercises you can do at home in just 10 to 15 minutes that will help you achieve the goal of a six pack. However, you need more than just abdominal exercises.

You need good nutrition in order to get the six pack you so badly want. So, instead of going on a "diet", you need to make a lifestyle change that includes eating healthier. No one expects this to happen overnight. You'll have to gradually make changes. I believe that once you start feeling better, you'll feel the change is more than worth it. If you need, you can seek a nutritionist or dietician to help you get on the right track, but you can also probably do some research on your own and figure out what changes you need to make to your diet.

You also need good cardiovascular training. And, when I say good training, I do not mean hours of training every day. How much exercise you need and how long it will take you to lose the weight will depend on how much fat you need to lose. However, remember to focus more on body measurements than weight. Muscle is more dense than fat and if you're building muscle at the same time you're losing fat, it may not be reflected on a scale.

I know that people do not like to hear it, but there is not any one quick fix. Getting and keeping a six pack takes a lot of discipline and hard work. It's easy to get discouraged when you do not see the results you want quickly. Just remember, you didn't gain the fat overnight and you're not going to lose it overnight.

It takes a healthy lifestyle in order to achieve any fitness goals. This includes a combination of healthy diet, exercise, and good sleep.
