News just came out that Susan Lucci will be returning to television. She will be joining past "All My Children" cast mate, Kim Delaney, on her show "Army Wives," once it begins its sixth season for Lifetime. Kim used to play the beloved character of Jenny Gardner on "All My Children." Now she plays Claudia Joy on "Army Wives."
The plan is for Susan to play the wife of a retired general. She will be on what is a called a multi-episode arc for at least two episodes of the series, if not more. Her role on the show is to help Claudia Joy and give her some advice about dealing with a rival.
Of course, soap fans are happy to hear that Susan Lucci has been offered a new job. They also like the fact, that for now the offer is just for a few episodes. This will still give Susan time to sign on with Prospect Park and rejoin "All My Children" when it begins taping its new shows for the web and then hopefully showing these same shows, again, on a cable station for those with no internet or without the proper internet access.
When "All My Children" ended its run for ABC, Susan's character, Erica was right in the mix of the things. It looked as if she may have been shot. This means that her character is a needed one and no fan would want anyone else playing Erica Kane, but the Susan.
Plus, since "All My Children" was cancelled, Susan has been cheering on the fans. She has been praising how hard they have been fighting. Many of these fans will feel hurt if she doesn't sign now after they work so hard.
Of course, the smart fan realizes that there is a possibility that Prospect Park may not want Susan to tell her fans whether she is signing or not. After all, the show ended with a cliff hanger. If the fans know that Susan has signed a contract, we know Erica lives. It could be more fun to wait and see which characters live or die. The suspense of the soaps is what makes them fun to watch!
