ABC has announced that several soap opera characters returning to General Hospital in the next few weeks.

One of the characters will return from the dead or play his character's ghost, one of them is a returning serial killer and one of the soap opera characters returning to General Hospital will be there to stir up trouble in Port Charles, the mythical town of General Hospital.

Stuart Damon is Returning to General Hospital

Stuart Damon will reprise his Daytime Oscar winning role as Alan Quartermaine. In February 2007, Alan suffered a heart attack when he and several other characters were held hostage in the town's hotel. Even though his captors released him and he was rushed to General Hospital, he died with his wife Monica as his side. Since the character's death, Stuart Damon has returned several times to the show, portraying the ghost of Alan Quartermaine. However, Alan's sister Tracy is the only one able to see or hear him. ABC has not yet announced whether Stuart Damon will again be cast as Alan's ghost or whether Alan Quartermaine will return from the dead.

James Franco is Returning to General Hospital

Another of the soap opera characters returning to General Hospital is movie actor James Franco in his recurring role as Franco. Franco is a serial killer, with a twisted sense of humor, who has evaded the law. Franco is also a new-age type artist, whose photographs, sculptures, spray can paintings and performances always involve the subject matter of violence and the victims of violence. James Franco first appeared in Port Charles in November of 2009. He left the show in the beginning of 2010, but has returned several times for brief appearances. ABC has announced that Franco will return again in September with an exciting new plot involving the characters of Jason, Sam, Maxie and Carly.

Robin Christopher Has Already Returned to General Hospital as Skye Quartermaine

The character of Sky Quartermaine has appeared on the soap operas All My Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital and over the years has developed relationships with many of the characters in all three shows. Initially Skye was thought to be the long lost daughter of Adam Chandler when she first arrived on All My Children in 1986. Years later it was discovered that she was actually the daughter of Alan Quartermaine of General Hospital and Rae Cummings, a former character of One Life to Live. Robin Christopher reprised her role as Skye Quartermaine on General Hospital in August of 2011. Skye's character in each of the three shows has been both the "good guy" and "bad guy" roles, but she always seems to be able to stir up some trouble either way.

Alan Quartermaine, Franco and Sky Quartermaine of General Hospital are not the only soap opera characters are returning in the soap opera world. Several characters of All My Children will be also returning to reprise their roles.
