Starting Thursday, July 12, at 11 PM, SOAPNet is presenting a thirteen-episode primetime drama, "Nightshift." The drama will feature many of your favorite GH characters and some new ones, and show what they are doing when the sun goes down.
Set during the night shift at General Hospital, the show will "delve deeper into the relationships, friendships and medical cases seen at the hospital," according to SOAPnet.com.
I have been watching commercials and reading as much information on "Nightshift" as I can to try to get a sneak peek at this newest addition to my favorite soap. So far, we know that Patrick and Robin are going to be switched to nights in the ER and Patrick is going to be involved in an explosion.
There also seems to be a story line developing around the possibility of Robin having a baby. There is no confirmation on this of course. I am basing this on a hunch I have based on recent conversations the character has had and portions of a preview for "Nightshift" in which she is talking to her old boyfriend, Jason, about it, and a picture of Patrick, her current boyfriend, wrapping his arms around her waist and placing his hands on her stomach. Hm, what could this mean?
And I believe that a former "General Hospital" cast member will be joining "Night Shift." SOAPnet.com's description of the premiere mentions a patient whose last name is Barrett being checked in in critical condition. Could this be Brenda Barrett? That is my guess.
Another story line the description mentions is Jason being arrested. Since he is already in jail on "General Hospital" I can't help but wonder what will happen in the week before the show's premiere. Will he be released, or escape? What will he be arrested for this time? Is he leaving the show, or is this another hiatus for him?
Ah, so many possibilities and only thirteen episodes. I wonder if that will be enough, or if we'll be begging for more.
The show will feature three new nurses and at least two new doctors. There will also be another new hospital worker with a "haunted past" played by the legendary Billy Dee Williams. Some of the regular General Hospital cast members that will be appearing on the show are Patrick, Robin, Jason, Spinelli, Maxie, Dr. Kelly Lee, Dr. Lainey Winters, nurse Epiphany Johnson and her son Stan, Sonny's employee.
