Soccer Field Diagram : Killer Tips on Soccer Formations

When a soccer field diagram is used to teach the kids soccer formations and various positions, the job of planning and execution becomes very simple. It's advisable that young kids between 4 to 6 years in age should be made to play in small sided soccer like a 3 v 3 or a 4 v 4 with no goalkeepers.

Then move to a 5 v 5 including a goalkeeper as the kids mature. There are several benefits. This will result in kids having a lot more fun, learn the theory of the game better, and get touch the ball many times.

At this tender age, the kids are just about learning to control and pass the ball. You can also start teaching them formations and positions. It's the right time to allot to the players, roles of defenders and forwards. You should also ensure that they get to their positions as much as possible.

With time, the number of players will someday increase with the size of the soccer field. It would then get a bit difficult to make formations. Even then the players must be designated at various positions and see that they are performing sincerely from these positions.

These descriptions are apt for a 2-2-2 formation in a 7 v 7 game. These commands are generic in nature but you can change them to suit your team.

For instance, you can choose to have 3 midfielders in place of 2. You may use your center midfielder to attack furiously on offence or require that he marks the opponent midfielders on defense. You may want your wing defenders to take all throw-ins. There can a lot of changes.

Apart from the diagram, it is nice to put your thoughts on a piece of paper. This gives the kids an opportunity to go through the instructions at their own pace which improves their understanding a great deal. The parents can also read it and understand what your goals for the team are.

Whatever you do, just make sure that you use the field diagram extensively when teaching soccer positions. This can help you save on a lot of time and energy required to explain formations and is therefore a great mechanism.
