World sport, played on grass,
no - not football.
no - not football.
But yes it is, alas!
More true to the name than American pigskin,
the sport we call soccer - it's World Cup again!
Some Americans scoff, call it quite boring,
but it's turning left that gets me snoring.
Millions watch NASCAR, others choose golf,
sports that if on, I'd rather turn off.
But now it's World Cup, the planet is looking,
well- except the US, little fanfare is cooking.
Do we need to be- so damn exceptional,
or can we join the world, in a sport that's incredible?

Post a CommentSnide, while I like alot of other places too, I do love it here in the Pac NW...so sorry, I'm stayin - at least unless conservatives get back in charge and trash the place!
Course the futbul fan in your photo is one damn good reason to wanna watch guys named Jorge kick a black & white ball all over Hell's half acre.
How does one address the point of this article? It's fine that you or anyone likes soccer - perfectly fine by me, but golf is a world sport, not an American one, so ...and I hate golf. And while I like NASCAR and loved big E, I am more a lover of Grand Prix and GT racing worldwide. But why do you always find so much fault in America Jeff. It is indeed your default position,. Not to be a dick, but why do you stay here? We will never be like the rest of the world as you seem to wish we were, so why stay? I mean that - not playint the "my way or the hiway" card, but it is rampant that you so dislike US stuff and tout world habits as the preferred ones. Really, if we suck so much, why stay? I wouldn't if I disliked so many things about where I lived. I would move to more suitable environs. Seriously!
Great message. But, of course, I am a fanatical soccer fan. I have room in my sports life for American football, too.
do we need to be so damn exceptional!!?!? classic!
