The children start off with stretching out and practicing, then they're separated into two teams. As they play against one another running up and down the field. When a child sees and hears parents clapping after they make a goal, the expression on these children's faces is a sense of accomplishment to them. We all appreciate how hard these children work and strive to do better.
With the coaches and parents having the patience with these children, it helps the children to relax and just have fun. Each year the children seem to do better and many can see an improvement in a lot of them. If we could get more children to join this year, the children would have more teams to play against. It would also give the children a chance to meet more kids who are like them. These children with disabilities seem more comfortable being around other children with the same disabilities.
In the future we would like to introduce other sports to these children. Basketball, baseball, and other sports would also give these children more to do through out the year. It will give these children a chance to make new friends as well. Making new friends would also make it so they can see their friends more often through out the year. The more activities we have for these children, the more most will improve in many ways.
If you don't have a child with a disability and you live in the Georgia area, you may still come and cheer the children on. Most of these children strive on attention; they love to be cheered on. If you have a child with a disability and you live in the Georgia area, we would love for you to come join the team. If anyone is interested they may contact us through e-mail for any information they need. If we can get more children to join in the fun, we hope by next year we can get into basketball or baseball. Soccer will run from March till September, children can join at any time. So please contact us and join in the fun.
