Although social phobias/ social anxiety disorders are am emotionally painful condition, that is often heart breaking, and leads to serious feelings of isolation. There is help available in the form of psychiatrists, psychologists, and clinical social workers. Therapy is the only option for recovery from this type of disorder, in combination with other treatments such as medication.
Social Anxiety Disorder is often characterized by an overwhelmingly intense feeling of extreme self consciousness and extreme anxiety in day to day situations such as but not limited to: having fears about eating or drinking in public, in in front of others in general, and fears of simply speaking in front of other people.
Symptoms of a social anxiety disorder include chronic fears of constantly being judged by others. The afflicted will often feel embarrassed by their own simple actions and they are withdrawn from work, school and all forms of social interaction. The afflicted will have a very inactive, possibly non existent social life.
In addition to therapy with a mental health care professional the patient is also put on a regimen of medications to control their anxiety, and the patient is encouraged to begin making positive adjustments in their life.

Suffering from a social anxiety disorder, or social phobia is nothing to be ashamed of. At one point in nearly every ones life they will experience some issues with one form or another of anxiety. There are simple changes you can make and in combination with medication and therapy, you can put your life back together. You can put your anxiety behind you and begin enjoying your life again. Anxiety is a painful condition to experience as you often don't feel like yourself, and on top of all that, there are the physical symptoms. You can overcome this with the help of friends, family and a mental health professional.
