There are many social bookmarking sites but each one works in a similar way. First, you must create an account, which is usually a simple screen name and password. Then you usually need to download a button to the toolbar of your internet browser.
The next step is to visit the webpage you wish to bookmark. To actually bookmark a page, you click on the toolbar button for your social bookmarking site. You may be prompted to use your log in information. A screen will direct you to enter a summary of the page and some tags. Tags essentially serve as searchwords that categorize the webpage you're bookmarking. Click 'done', and the social bookmarking site saves the info you have entered, as well as the link to the desired page.
Now that a desired webpage is saved within a particular site, other users of the site can view it. A user may browse through newly bookmarked sites, look under categories, or search.
If you use more than one social bookmarking site, and want a particular page marked on each of them, you have to repeat this process for each site. This is where OnlyWire comes in. OnlyWire is easy to use, and it is used much like any other social bookmarking site - create a login, add a toolbar button, and use that button every time you want to mark a page.
At this point, OnlyWire becomes different. A screen will come up that asks for you to enter a summary and tag words. After you click 'save', OnlyWire bookmarks to other social bookmarking sites for you. When you set up your account, you enter your username and password for other social bookmarking sites you use. Then when you save a page to OnlyWire, the site performs the process of saving the page to the designated sites.
As a result, anyone who regularly uses more than one social bookmarking site can benefit from OnlyWire. Rather than several toolbar buttons and log ins to keep track of, one button and log in with OnlyWire does the work for you. This site works with many sites including del.icio.us, Excites, Linkroll, Markaboo, unalog, and more. However, it is not compatible with Digg.
