This also gives family time when families are physically at a distance from each other. With e-mail, blogs and other interactive resources....keeping in touch is now as easy as clicking the mouse.
Here is a list of the more popular social networking sites geared towards the babyboomers and older people.
Eons
This social site was started by Jeff Taylor, who was the founder of the Job site: Monster.com.
This site is much like Myspace for Babyboomers. It has groups you can join, blogs to start, new friends to meet and communicate with. There are hundreds of backgrounds you can pick from for your profile. When you join, there is an automatic contact like on Myspace, but this is a lady named Suzy. And you also get an automatic group join, usually one of the new member groups. It even has a game section.
Seniorocity
This one is something like Eons, you can add music, video's here. I'd say it is a cross between Myspace and Facebook for boomers and seniors. This has groups also, forums, etc. You can place graphics on the profiles. Like Eons, they have articles on Health issues, Money issues, etc.
Genkvetch
This site is the newcomer to the Senior Networking block. This site comes out of South Florida. They have a forum, health, entertainment sections. They have a section for jokes, recipes and video's. Even though this is a brand new site, expect it to grow quickly as time goes on.
SeniorPassions
This networking site is mostly for dating Seniors. Many seniors have lost their spouse or divorced after years of marriage, and are ready to try again with somebody new. Dating isn't just for the young anymore.
SassySeniors
This is another Senior dating site. It has links to the senior ads from people who are ready for the dating life. They also have articles on issues important to seniors. There are forums, gossip columns, current events, and more.

Post a CommentMy grandmother would love these sites but she has no interest in getting on the computer. At all. :( I can't even convince her to learn how to text.
I think that this is so cute. Seniors have lives too!
As a baby boomer, I say "who knew!"
Interesting information. My grandmother would be scared to use a computer, though.
Great article with great info.
Never knew these places existed. Very cool!
