Social Site Users Growing in Numbers and Habits
New Studies Show Statistical Data Relating to America's New Favorite Internet Sites
(As published on Linked In in the Those in the Media group forums By: Jennifer Banacinin)
Worldwide there are 164 million internet users. On Google alone there are 88,000,000,000 searches per month. That's 34,000 searches per second on this site. Only 57% of the above internet users search on the web. With a total of 46% of those searches relating to information on products and services. Out of the monthly searching amount on Google, 20% are for local businesses. These number have been growing annually, as do more companies with social media are being introduced.
I like to blog, I even blog here on AC when offered to. Worldwide there are 152, 000,000 blogs on the internet. This number has rose 31% more from 2008 compared to now in 2011, according to EMarketer in August 2010. Facebook has been the greatest tool in social marketing and media pulling in 93% of internet users, that's 152 million people. While in comparison 21 million adult users are on Twitter, that's only 9% from the total online population. The average Twitter account has 27 followers. Which is fare less than mine has. Yet only 18% tweet once a day. Which is much more than I do? I can readily state I can use Facebook more than any other site, as many others do as well.
Your choices for sharing memories and celebrations along with each and every day give a unique make up of you. Whether it's Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or any other social site you visit remember you are not alone. In fact, at least half of all my friends, followers, or professionals were all found with common interests online. So, you too can find who and where life can go in any direction as a free hobby. Censorship and restriction of old ideas is a must to keep up for competing services. As more and more internet users sign up to be social, so are businesses changing their profiles to attract more business.
