SocialAttire Wants to Change the Fashion World

Megan Myers
SocialAttire bridges aspiring designers and fashion-forward consumers from around the world using a modern, online platform. SocialAttire.com invites designers to submit dress prototypes and sketches after building personalized profiles.

Consumers and fellow designers vote and comment on submissions over two-week periods. The dress which receives the most votes is sold on SocialAttire.com. Consumers receive the original fashion they crave, and designers gain exposure in the fashion world and a portion of profits. We want to change the fashion world, and we want you to be a part of it. Let's turn designers' dreams into wearable reality on SocialAttire.com

Meet the Team

Allison Dwyer, Founder and CEO

A runner, horseback rider, skier and traveler, Allison knew from an early age that she wanted to start her own business. Drawing out plans and pictures of her elusive "dress company" from the age of six, Allison was determined from a young age to create a unique entity. Allison attended Emory University's Goizueta Business School and majored in Marketing and Organizations and Management. Two entrepreneurship classes inspired Allison to conceive and execute SocialAttire.com. After years of dreaming and months of countless phone calls, interviews, networking and financing, SocialAttire was born.

Rebecca Stump, VP of Marketing

Rebecca's passion for combining creative pursuits with businesslike thinking led her to SocialAttire.com. Rebecca can also be found releasing her creativity through dance, yoga, and sculpture. She joins SocialAttire.com hoping to bring together artists from around the world in a setting which fuels success and encourages a unique approach to fashion.

Aparna Mehra, VP of Public Relations

Aparna's enjoyment in learning about fashion stemmed from her avid fascination of magazines, fashion writing, and the strategical business standpoint of the various aspects of the fashion industry. You could find Aparna showing her competitiveness on the tennis court or even concocting dishes from various cuisines while enjoying a variety of foreign films. She joins SocialAttire.com with the enthusiasm to promote and support independent designers and encourage the notable link between fashion and business.

Andrew Sullivan, VP of Finance

Andrew is currently pursuing his CPA certification. In college, Andrew found his place on the cross country team, where he met Allison Dwyer over their love of running and fashion. Andrew is a movie buff who spends his free time running, playing volleyball, and hanging out with friends. Andrew brings his finance and accounting expertise to SocialAttire.com and credits his sister for his passion for fashion.

Stephanie Fratus, Marketing Intern

Stephanie studies at the Savannah College of Art and Design pursuing a major in fashion and a minor in business. She has been sewing for as long as she can remember and in her free time she rides horses and plays soccer with friends. Stephanie credits her parents for helping her pursue fashion. She cites her mother's inspirational fashion sense as a key influence.

How it Works

Create an account.

Submit either a sketch or dress sample by logging into SocialAttire. Samples and sketches are placed in two separate competitions. Remember to create your designer profile!

The community votes and comments on their favorite looks.

SocialAttire chooses a winner based on the number and quality of votes received and production feasibility. If you are selected as a winner of the sample competition, you must be able to mail us the sample and pattern. Of course, everything will be returned in its original condition and they cover all shipping charges.

Once the perfect sample is made, the dress goes up for pre-order at a 30% discount.

Once the dresses are fully produced, the designer's label is sewn into the back of the dress. The dress is packaged up and shipped out to the customer.

I don't think I would like to see naked bodies walking around, especially mine. LOL

I knew when Fashion Stake came out last year that crowd sourcing was going to begin to take off in fashion. I wrote about this new direction the industry was taking last year. It will nice to see just how far this can go.

I vote for Clothing Optional along with the subtraction of "This Year's Style" from our vocabulary.
