Societal Stain

The Age of Cynicism

Heather Dekin
Lack of faith in the human experiment
A science project in the making
Lying as a useless object in a cool sterile room
Wondering when the first slice with the scalpel
Will finally be made on the vessel known as a corpse
Death cooled to an arctic chill
Sadness warming the smell of embalming fluids
Microwaving funeral emotions for thirty seconds
Stirring to heat everything up a little more
Ready to serve for the phony feeling masses
Buffet style of course
No one ready for the fine service of a four star hotel
Time to realize that happiness is a sickness
Of staying in the social sun too long
Needing to hide away in the closet for a spell
Until these leftover feelings passed.
