Especially hispanics who are so in need
Poverty is an issue for us and counseling is a must
We've taken many wrong directions because in no one we cant trust
We become teenage mothers and quit school
We have no one to guide us to show us it's not cool
They rate us in statistics and judge us by the majority
We don't get a turn to learn and earn and we get no priority
They might call us spic or hick, or use other racial comments
They hate to view us as important as doctors, lawyers, or sargeants
We go through embarassment and sometimes even through harassment
What they don't know is that we are, in fact, intelligent
I got my Associates Degree, but that's not where I want to be
I won't give up, until my masters, I acheive
I would like to see my people accomplish more or less the same
To show our cruel society, we are not all about the game
We need to stick together to prove we are not lame
And of our culture, we have no shame

Post a CommentThis poem is an inspiration. Minorities have to struggle and fight that much harder to get to comfortable place and get somewhat excepted by society! Keep up the poetry!!
Despite trying times, the words in this sure give people a reminder of the struggle of minorities of race and color.
Keep writing and posting. Nice work, and welcome to AC!
Don't give up. Keep on pursuing your dreams despite the ignorance and racism of others. Welcome to AC.
