What causes poverty?
This research paper on poverty will discuss the many theories behind what causes poverty. Some to include are lack of education, racial barriers, lack of support systems, alcohol abuse and more. There are numerous books and journal articles on this topic. You might also want to ask a social worker, perhaps a social worker who works with the homeless for their opinion on what causes poverty. You might check out some blogs of social service workers who help those in need. Two to consider are Larry James' Urban Daily (click here to read it) and Janet Morrison's Community Dialogue here.
The Benefits of Single Parent Support Groups
Parenting is tough. It's even tougher when you're single and playing both the role of mom and dad. That's where a support group for single parents (such as "Parents with Partners) can help. This might require a little more research than most papers. You might start by reading the article, "How to Find Support As a Single Mom." You might need to interview a therapist who counsels single parents for some insight.
Transracial Adoption
An additional idea for a sociology or social work term paper is transracial adoption. You can find many books on this subject such as In the Own Voices: Transracial Adoptees Tell Their Stories by Rita Simon and Rhonda Roorda. If you are doing a class presentation on this topic as well, you might show a clip from the movie Losing Isaiah.
Domestic Violence and the Effect on Children
This is a serious, but important issue. You can discuss the trauma that domestic violence can have on children and teens. There are a plethora of books and articles that discuss domestic violence and the trauma it can cause to a family. You also might consult with a social worker at a local safe house for abused women.
Therapy for Survivors of Suicide
Another sensitive, but crucial topic is helping survivors of suicide. You can discuss the recommended treatment and therapy for anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide. Google "survivors of suicide" for more information. You might also contact a social service worker who works for a suicide prevention hot line.
These are just five topic ideas for a paper for your sociology or social work research paper or presentation. You also might read "5 Psychology Research Paper Topic Ideas." The key is to write about a topic that you are truly passionate about. Happy Writing!

Post a CommentThese are some great tips. For those who could use some more specific advice, tips and information about great article thanks for posting…..The papers given by authorsmania are all written from scratch, and there is no danger of plagiarism at all. They write an out-of-this-world essay that attempts to construct a clear argument based on the evidence of the text provided by me. I would definitely recommend it to my friends. http://www.authorsmania.com
