Soda Review: Diet Pepsi

There are many Diet colas to choose from but my family prefers Diet -Pepsi over all the other brands offered. Some others prefer the other soft drink but in a poll of my neighbors Diet- Pepsi wins hands-down.

Diet- Pepsi has been around a long time. Its look has changed now and then to keep up with the fashion and style of the times. But it's what is inside the bottle or can that counts. And Diet -Pepsi remains a popular soft drink second only to Diet- Coke in overall sales. It is one of the most popular soft drinks in America and around the world. (it is called a soft drink as opposed to a hard drink that contains alcohol).

Some people state there is no difference in the taste of diet soft drinks but they are wrong. If there were no difference consumers would buy any diet soft drink. But there is a difference in taste. Millions of people enjoy the taste of Diet- Pepsi as opposed to other offerings.

The ingredients for Diet -Pepsi have not changed for quite some time. We all remember the fiasco when Coca-Cola changed the recipe of it's main offering. It turned out to be disastrous and Pepsi was able to make some major inroads on sales that previously were held by its major competitor. Coca-Cola renamed their soda Coca-Cola Classic.

Diet Pepsi is sold in several different guises. These have proved to be quite handy whether camping or for home use etc. There is a size or shape to fit any cooler refrigerator or office cooler. Offered are plastic one liter bottles, 24oz plastic bottles, 12 ounce cans and eight ounce bottles and cans. The 24 oz bottles are sometimes sold as a six-pack as are the 12oz cans. The 8oz servings come in eight-packs. Of course all can be sold singly or in boxes of 12 to 24.

The ingredients are: carbonated water, caramel color, aspartame, phosphoric acid, potassium benzoate (preserves freshness),caffeine, citric acid, natural flavors. The label also warns that this product contains phenylalanine which can cause a rare defect to infants or children allergic to it. That is why the warning is there.

Diet Pepsi has zero calories, no fat or carbohydrates. It is absent of sugar or protein. So it makes no claim to be a health drink, it is not organic. It is just a good tasting diet soft drink. And millions of people think so every day when they purchase some. The popularity of this drink is testimony to its pleasing flavor.
