Sofitel Philadelphia Hotel Review

If you are looking for a luxury hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for your next trip, consider the Sofitel Philadelphia Hotel located at 120 South 17th Street. For less than $200 per night, you will be staying in a four star hotel in the French Quarter of downtown Philadelphia. Due to its location near Rittenhouse Square, the hotel is elegantly decorated in the French style.

As a first time visitor to Philadelphia, I was excited to discover that Sofitel is close to many of the historical attractions that I wanted to see. The Franklin Institute of Science, Independence Visitor Center, Liberty Bell, National Constitution Center, and Philadelphia Museum of Art are all located within a mile of the hotel so they are easy to walk to. If you are interested in seeing the symphony or concerts while in town, the Kimmel Center is a short walk and the Tweeter Center is a short drive away. You will also find the Philadelphia Zoo about five miles from the hotel. Logan Circle and Midtown Village are nearby if you are interested in shopping. To travel away from the city, you can walk a couple blocks to the subway stop to avoid taking a taxi.

If you are looking for food within the hotel, check out the Chez Colette restaurant which serves a variety of French food. The food was good but overpriced. However, I have grown to expect high prices from hotel restaurants so it was nothing unexpected. The hotel bar, La Bourse, is an elegant bar with huge windows so you can watch the city from your seat. Croissants and coffee are offered in the lobby in the morning.

I was impressed by the quality and cleanliness of the rooms. They are beautifully decorated and the bathrooms have everything you need. The beds were comfortable and even had soft sheets. Also, the fitness center is well equipped with enough equipment for everyone who wishes to use it. Many of the rooms on the upper floors have nice views of the city.

Overall, I enjoyed the hotel and would consider staying here again if I were looking for a conveniently located hotel in downtown Philadelphia. The staff was mostly friendly and the concierge was helpful in making suggestions of places to go and things to do. If you are a pet lover, you will be happy to know that your dog is welcome here as well.
