I have a Soft Paws Nail Cap Kit that I have used to put on my cat's nails and it is an amazing product. If you have a kitty cat and you do not want your carpet, furniture, or yourself to be damaged, I highly recommend Soft Paws Nail Caps as a safe alternative to declawing.
Soft Paws Nail Caps were developed by a veterinarian by the name of Toby Wexler in 1990. They are comfortable, safe, non toxic, and your cat will not even know that he or she is wearing them. They come in many fun colors such as gold glitter, clear, blue, pink, silver glitter, orange, yellow , green, black, purple, red, grey, pastel pink, pastel blue, white, and much more. Your cat can even wear a mixed color variety, such as green and yellow, red and green, or white and purple. They are so cute. Each kit includes 40 nail caps, applicators, two adhesives, full instructions, and they come in four sizes- kitten, small, medium, or large and each application lasts 4-6 weeks.
I started out with the color pink/size small kit. I thought that since I have a female kitty cat, the color pink would add a touch of femininity to her nails, and it did. The nail caps are so lovely on my cat's nails. It actually looks like she went to a salon and had her nails done! The most important reasons why I like Soft Paws Nail Caps is because when my kitty cat is wearing them, she cannot tear up my carpet and furniture. Also, there have been times that my kitty cat has scratched and injured the top of her head and the sides of her ears with her nails, but when she wears the nail caps on her back paws, she cannot injure herself.
I have heard that declawing a cat is not good for cats and many have been crippled by the painful procedure. I know that this is true and that is why I never wanted my cat to be declawed. I believe that cats need their nails for protection and to walk properly. I just know that God meant for cats to have nails.
Soft Paws Nail Caps are very easy to use. First, you should cut your cat's own nails slightly back, but only cut the tips and not deeply. Then fill up each nail cap half way with the special glue that comes in the kit. It is good to have someone help you by holding your cat while you apply the nail caps to its nails. I know that my cat likes to lick her paws after the nail caps are applied, but don't be concerned, he glue dries fast and it is non-toxic , so it will not hurt your precious kitty cat.
I think that my kitty felt like she had foreign objects on her nails, but after about ten minutes, she got use to having them on. The nail caps look so cute on her and I love the color pink. I think that she likes them too!
You will know when it is time to replace a nail cap on your kitty's nail, because after about 2-3 weeks, individual nail caps will begin to fall off along with part of the outer shell of the original nail.
I highly recommend to anyone that cares about their cat, furniture, and carpet, please try Soft Paws Nail Caps. Your cat will love them and I know you will too.
