Solar Lighting Alternatives

Solar lighting is a great way to have outdoor lighting that is free of cords, which one can trip over, or accidentally cut with a lawnmower. Using the sun's natural energy to power these solar lights is a cost saving measure that many families can put in practice. Here are some alternative ways to use these solar lights.

For all of the alternatives one must allow the solar lights to get the full power of sunlight to recharge during the day. Once fully charged these can be used in many ways. You can pick these up at almost any department store, and customers may purchase them on the Internet.

If you enjoy camping, these solar lights can illuminate the path to your tent or camper. When you go inside at night, take them inside with you to light up the interior safety. My ex-boyfriend took a few of these into the camper so my granddaughter would have a nightlight. When used as a nightlight it emits enough to see by but not enough to keep one awake. Had one of them fallen they would not have caused a fire, so it was a nice safe addition.

If you have a stand or shelf in a dark hallway, a fully charged solar light can be brought inside to act as a nightlight. Most of these solar lights sit on a detachable pole, which can be removed. Simply set the illuminated part on a shelf or stand. If it's not detachable simply, poke it into a plant or a tall vase.

Parents can also stick a fully charged solar light in the kid's room for a safe nightlight. Stick it in a curtain rod, or open the dresser drawer and place it there. It allows the child to see and keeps the monsters at bay for the night.

If you enjoy using luminaries for different holidays or events one can use these solar lights instead of a lit candle. It's much cheaper and safer than using an open flame. Simply pop of the stem off and place the lighted part into the bag of sand to have the safer alternative.

Use the solar lights as part if your Halloween decorations this year. Stick a bit of light colored material over one inserted into the ground and it becomes a mini ghost. The material will blow in the wind, which adds to the atmosphere.
