Solar Power in Louisiana

M.M. Schmelz
We just put a solar panel system on our home. It has been one of the best decisions we have ever made! We are so much more aware of the amount of power we use!

A little known fact is that Louisiana has the best tax rebates in the nation for those that install solar panel systems on their home. Yes, you heard that right, Louisiana, the oil and gas state has some great tax incentives for clean energy like solar. You can install a solar panel system on your home and Louisiana will give you 50% back for the first $25,000.00 of the cost of your system, up to $12,500. There is also currently a federal tax credit of 30% as well. You can get your system and really just have to pay a fraction of the actual cost.

Another advantage of solar power is that you will produce your power from the solar panels and not have to pay for all of your electricity from the electric company. Our system is tied into our electrical company service, so we never lose power if our solar panels do not produce enough electricity to meet our needs. We look forward to eventually not getting an electric bill anymore!

Your solar panel system will never raise it's rates like your electric company will! Also, any additional power you do not use, your power company may buy back. Our electric company currently will give you credit for your additional electric usage. Other electric companies in other states will buy back the surplus energy for cash!

The solar panel system increases the value of your home! What better incentive could there be when looking at homes to buy, when you consider you would have a reduced electric bill to no electric bill!

There are also many environmental benefits to solar panels. Solar panels are clean green power as opposed to whatever method your electric company uses to obtain power. That reduces the pollution in the air. You are also reducing your dependence on foreign oil.

There are many benefits to solar power, especially in Louisiana!
