Solar energy is the new trend, a viable alternative for some older fuels which harm the environment. In an era of economic instability, it is becoming increasingly important to become independent from the grid. Such independence will result in less stress. Stress creates health problems. Instead of creating stress paying bills, get rid of the bills. Obliterate them. Why have bills? Having to use all your energy to pay monthly bills to simply keep a roof over your head and utilities results in servitude to someone other than yourself. The boss you wake up to in the morning is not yourself. When the alarm goes off in the morning, it is not for your own job. With solar energy powering electricity, that is one less bill to pay, and much more control in your hands.
There is a story of an anonymous person filing for permanent disability who stood to get his electricity shut off in two days for lack of payment. What makes it significant to discuss is that his wife is dependent on oxygen. The electric company did not just decide to give him a lot of leeway. They gave him numbers to call for some community help. The companies are in business to make money. It is about the bottom line. If he had had a solar panel, he wouldn't be going around to everyone he knows in two days trying to get his bill paid before he gets cut off, resulting in his wife's death if the oxygen tank got turned off. Depending on electricity makes us helpless pawns. Investment in some solar equipment and learning how to use it to one's best advantage gives one a new independence.
Economic Recession Demands Energy Alternatives
Economic stimulus depends on each person and their actions - we create the economy. The economy does not depend on a government handing out a few hundred dollars to each person, although that greatly helps at a certain time, and is not to be knocked, and the Obama campaign did well to do this. There are things in nature that can provide economic growth. Take the sun, for instance. It's there. It's warm. It's powerful. It'll be there tomorrow. And, most importantly, it's free. Harness its rays together with some technological equipment, and you have a winning combination. Except for the technology that has been used to create it, it is clean -- free of air pollution. We may shrug and say that the earth is fine for us to live on now, but what will happen a hundred and five hundred years from now if we keep living the way that we are living? Extrapolate the garbage we create, the air and water we pollute. Do we want a living planet, or a planet of death and destruction? If we want a living one, and most of us do, we will think our way out the disaster we created with new technology, making use of natural elements.
Simple Living
In ancient times, human beings lived lightly on the earth, or we wouldn't be here today. They may have been seen as backward, using horses for transportation, but they used what nature had available and had many less factories, and the factories that they did have were much more apt to produce quality equipment rather than pieces of junk that were made to sell and not to use. With the coming of rampant consumerism, came large amounts of consumer debt, and the proverbial keeping up with the Joneses, where you just had to have what the rich family had, or you didn't feel normal or right inside. With the coming of consumer debt, came vast amounts of bankruptcy filings. We have made life too complicated. The earth can produce crops, and it revolves around the sun. The sun is still there. It can still power equipment. It can heat the hood of a car, heat water sitting out. Can it not heat bathwater, or the water for a shower? Why is green technology not more readily available? Somehow, we have ignored the obvious and opted for the complicated solution in suiting our energy needs - ones that take mining, drilling, and shipping. How did people live before they had gas and oil to power their transportation? You guessed it. They simply lived. This is a defense for making use of the sun's power.
