The 3 mountains are truly unique and all offer exciting and breathtaking views that will delight and amaze. Getting to the viewing platforms is not for the sedentary as quite strenuous climbs are required from the drop off points. Do not forget to take a camera with you so that you can bring back truly magnificent views.
There are several ski huts in the Solden Glacier that provide an additional attraction for the visitor. Some of these huts are available for rental as accommodation for the skier, while others have been turned into restaurants or bars. The restaurants provide some truly amazing country cuisine that will please just about anyone, whether you are in the area for the skiing or just passing through.
You will be amazed to learn that at the peak season, the lifts and gondolas can transport almost 70,000 persons every hour! There are over 150km of piste that are maintained throughout the day for the visitors, employing several hundred individuals to keep the tracks well groomed. The snow canons employed ensure that there is fresh snow for the skiers continuously throughout the day from 2,200 meters on down on each slope. Both snowboarding and skiing to international standards are catered for.
There are over 40 runs to choose from, including 17 for the novice, 18 for the intermediate and lastly 8 kept aside for the advanced skier. One of the greatest ski runs, 13 kilometers in length, is found here. The lifts and gondola a quite numerous as well, with gondolas numbering 7, chairlifts 19 and draglifts just 8. The grades available for skiing cover all the cardinal points, North, South, East and West. For best skiing, there are always snow falls on several slopes at any time of the day to ensure that skiers get fresh snow to ski on.
Other facilities available at Solden include curling, paths for walking, tobogganing, paragliding, snowshoeing, sleigh riding, skating on ice, spas, aquadomes, tennis, saunas, pools and a variety of other indoor activities. There are a great number of bars, restaurants and a host of entertainment establishments to provide you with all your vacation needs.
