Solid, Stable, Smart, Sober

Positive Attributes of Our Next President

Lorraine Yapps Cohen
If I can borrow Charles Krauthammer's words, they would describe our next President. The S-adjectives in the title describe what the nation might look for in an electable Republican candidate. We know who the Democrats will put up. The country looks to another party for relief from that choice.

Personal "nots"

With nouns not to have, I would suggest the candidate come without the following personal attributes: no baggage, no flash, no attention-getting tactics, no spectacle, no narcissism, no clowning, no controlling, no self-aggrandizement, no sentimentality, no lying, no irresponsibility, no fluff.

Political "nots"

To that list I would add these political viewpoints: no spending, no debt, no excessive government, no left leaning, no unconstitutionality, no socialism, no collectivism, no diatribes, no economic stupidity.

Not relevant

Completely irrelevant aspects follow. If we think any of these are important aspects for a twenty-first century president, we need to come out of the cave and welcome the values of a new day and age. Not relevant are gender, religion, race, heritage, marriages, divorces, kids, wealth, sexual preferences, bedroom conduct, personal spending, college behavior.

"Not haves" win

Krauthammer went on to size up prospective Republican candidates according to their qualifications in not having the personal and political traits listed above. Read how he stacked them up here. Then stack them up for yourself and decide which "not-have" would have your vote.

It's simple

Unless you're into masochism and voting for Obama in 2012, your vote would naturally go to the individual with the four prominent positive attributes: solid, stable, smart, and sober. It couldn't be simpler.

Ron Paul announced and I think he may have the best shot at beating Obama. Remember, he is the ORIGINAL Tea Party type and the leader in that he was the first to endorse such thoughts in any coherent manner. He has the brains, the experience and the, wait for it....GRAVITAS!!! I also like Michele Bachmann and John Bolton too, but I think Bachmann has been marginalized and will be "Palinized" until she's not viable. Bolton rocks and Chris Christie is my dream nominee, but he's not running. At this point I think I will back Paul all the way.

The GOP has some solid people that will have their hats in the ring. It will be a most interesting (and most crucial) election. rcj

I do include someone that doesn't have a personal history of cheating on a spouse. When I was in business, I would walk out the door if the customer hit on me or refuse them as a client. I won't do business with a marital cheat because if they cheat on the person they're supposed to love the most, they'll cheat in business. The same goes for pres. (We're Not talking about the guy that actually leaves his spouse because of a bad marriage.) Isn't it amazing how we all have these rules set in our heads! LOL
