Solitaire

Diane Zoller-Ciatto
Sitting alone reflecting
Just the cards and me
Trying to fit them together
Like the pod fits the final pea.

It is not always easy
To win at this game of life
The cards are dealt to us
As we face both calm and strife.

When I stopped playing solo
And my partner joined the game
The cards just seemed to meld
Every time I said his name!

Takes two hands to clap! Great to share life with loved ones on give and take, of course. True feelings Nana, thanks for making my day - siva

Beautiful. I like the hook on the end. As the song "Pardon Me You Left Your Tears on the Jukebox" says, "Alone is much better together".

I think because the title and the first line made the cards an important image, I wanted more of the solitaire metaphor. I wanted the cards to play a part in the poems resolution. Also I don't understand the putting peas back into a pod. It's an odd image.
