Solutions to Midday Work and School Fatigue

The Informer
During the day, whether you are at work or school, you require the maximum amount of energy to perform your best, However, or various reasons, that is not always doable. Not enough sleep, food, and drive combine to minimize your productivity. There are also pairing solutions for these problems, and they can be easily used so that you won't have to deal with fatigue during the day.

The most common cause of a lack of energy during the day is an insufficient amount of sleep. This is, however, relatively difficult to avoid, so I will only cover it briefly. Although you might not be able to wake up later, to skip out on work that still has to be done at late hours, you can make up for the sleep your not getting. During your breaks from work, use the time for a quick nap. An hour lunch break? Eat quickly and enjoy a 45 minute nap. Smaller naps allotted during the day can add up to tack on a couple more hours to your total hour count for sleep. The extra sleep can really help you revitalize to increase your productivity. Problems at night should also be addressed. Loud, snoring partner? Earplugs are in order. Troubles on your mind keeping you from sleeping? Advil PM could be the solution. One must be VERY careful not to abuse sleeping medication. If you can not, however, up your total sleep hour count, other solutions for a lack of energy during the day are available.

Having a low blood sugar can leave you feeling burnt out, hungry, and tired. You may be thinking, "Blood Sugar? That's only something diabetics have to worry about!" Well this is utterly untrue. Having a healthy blood sugar dictates your energy during the day. Without the right nutrition, you will be left tired and hungry even after a big breakfast during the day. A well-designed meal can help you really keep your energy during the day. Although carbohydrates are a great source of energy, you can plow through them very quickly. Thus, you will have a lot of energy, but for a short amount of time. To stretch out this energy over a longer period, one must add fat or protein to the meal. So if you enjoy toast and jelly, adding some butter (fat) can help that toast really go farther. Foods like breakfast sandwiches, healthy reheated pizza, or other otherwise considered unconventional yet still diverse, healthy foods are great breakfast foods.

Another idea is to have a healthy drink for during the day. Natural 100% fruit and vegetable juices are high in vitamins and natural sugars, which can give you great energy. An interesting option i've tried and enjoyed is called "Emergen-C." This is a "just-add-water" powder than is a flavored mix of an enormous amount of various vitamins and minerals. It's easy to pack, cheap, and great for energy-boosting. Having a sip when you would otherwise grab a trip to the water fountain can still get you your water for the day, yet with some valuable nutrients.

All of these for increasing one's energy during the day are meant to increase your drive, a function of your passion and energy. Of course, your passion for your work is not something you can modify, however, how much energy you have does. Keeping a good sleeping schedule, a healthy eating schedule to maximize energy during the day can help your drive, and in turn, your work performance.
