It has been interesting to note that although Barack Obama claims to be a Constitutional lawyer, and John McCain, a Vietnam vet (from another unconstitutional foreign engagement and not "defensive" war - that time initiated by Democrats in order to "spread democracy throughout the world") there really is little substantially to differentiate the two on most of the issues. Both are clearly of the new political party, "globalists" , in both their positions, and in even using the world stage to carry on their campaigns and messages.
The one difference there seems to be now that their differences over our still remaining in the ludicrous war in Iraq against the will of the majority of the American people since Obama made his trek there seems now to be the gas crisis, and how to solve our "energy crisis." The price of gas continues to stand at over $3.00 per gallon, with another scare that the recent reduction might again increase if Hurricane Edouard hits the Gulf. Apparently, America's dependence on foreign oil isn't the only excuse needed in order to spike an increase in this volatile, yet very profitable, market and monopoly. Oil is, after all, an "energy monopoly" by and large in this country - and if most of the Texas oilmen have their way, it appears, it will remain so.
Does anyone in this country truly believe that a nation that was capable of putting a man on the moon (40 years ago) and developed the nuclear bomb (60 years ago) does not have the technology right now at it's disposal to manufacture a hydrogen or other "cleaner" fuel automobile, thereby saving that precious oil offshore primarily for home heating? It is interesting the spins both the Democrats and Republicans put on this issue. The Democrats want to tax the oil companies, and tax the consumers (since the oil companies are and have been allowed to "pass on" those "corporate" taxes with little regulation at all as a cartel and energy monopoly at will, wouldn't the consumers potentially then be paying a double whammy with this plan Democrats?). The Republicans (many of whom own interests in those cartels) want to roll back the corporate taxes on them in order to encourage investment on other energy sources, and also "save" the consumers. How the Republicans figure that any corporate tax savings will be passed down to the consumers rather than added to the profit margins, or truly stimulate those companies to put those tax savings in alternative fuels I haven't a clue but appears neither do they when hard pressed. It seems between the two parties, the status quo actually is what they like more than anything else, each for their own self serving and differing reasons and power plays, certainly not for the welfare of the American people or their economies or handing it over to those overpaid engineers filling many seats in our federal government.
With the amount of tax monies that are paid by the American people to the engineers and staff of NASA since the 60's concentrating on space exploration, another non-governmental function (since mixing our economy globally with other country's on this planet in the far future might not be enough), and since the space program obviously might have to be put on hold until this gas situation is remedied, I bet those NASA engineers could get the plans for that hydrogen or non-fossil fuel natural gas auto out in less than a year (I'd say six months, but we are dealing with unbelievable bureaucracy again at NASA) . For all I know, in their downtime recently maybe someone there already has the plans drawn).
Until that occurs, why not think inside the box? Our own Constitution. Oil right now is an "energy monopoly," so as such calls for strict regulation of this "commerce" over those global foreign interests and domestic scammers fleecing the American people. Taxes should be placed on foreign oil - large ones, in order to protect domestic production, discourage the foreign investment which has kept us in endless expensive wars in the region for the oil companies agendas, and keep the price of domestically produced oil cheaper. Those off shore wells should be opened and domestic production increased accordingly, unless the Nancy Pelosi's of this world want to give up their coast to coast travel, not just limos. Actually, if the global warming the Democrats fear most actually does speed up (since it has, after all, been going on since the ice age), or they don't get that "carbon tax" they want as another unaccountable source of revenue for Washington, the oil crisis will solve itself. With the earth warmer, we won't need oil for home heating needs at all!
Instead of "windfall profit" taxes, there should be the Constitutional "foreign import" tax levied once again. If the oil companies pass on those taxes due to Congress's lack of regulation, does go to show just how greedy they are, since expenditures such as taxes paid are, after all, deductible prior to calculating the tax on their annual profits just as any other corporate (or personal) business. From all reports, these prices have nothing to do with any true shortage to begin with (other than that we continue to use much of that gas waging wars in the Middle East and then spending it in the region that we bought it from in the first place, insane as that has become). Mr. McCain and Mr. Obama, ending this war and it's massive costs in that precious gasoline (not to mention American lives) would also be a start and should be a part of that energy package.
Is it just me, or is it funny, again, this is now all coming to a head just as a Texas oil man leaves the White House, after seven years of a war he expanded in that region after 9/11, which countries producers are now in partnership with those American oil companies, scalping the American people? Appears the American people have been and continue to be victimized all around, both by it's own government and leadership in this "crisis", and those Middle Eastern potentates and the splinter groups that live in that region. Maybe the solution to this problem in America at least is domestic and not global at all. Maybe if we minded our own business and took a non-interventionist stand in the future with respect to that region since we have actually more than adequately armed both sides of the Palestinian/Israeli conflicts, for which many Americans have lost their lives, and concentrated on simply capturing bin Laden as the American people were originally led to believe, and developing those alternative fueled autos, that might be the greatest "energy" solution yet. Gee, if we had those small hydrogen cars, the need for federal highway repairs might also lessen and they just might have one less revenue source to tap at will, or start giving back some of those over-collected taxes, and then also wouldn't have that economic threat and club to use against the citizens and the states for some of those ludicrous unconstitutional industry and federal government profiting/bill of rights striping edicts, i.e., threatening "removal of federal highway funds," if the citizens and states don't bow to the will of the National Highway Traffic Safety Council and the insurers who lobbied for the ridiculous "Click it or Ticket" programs and low (mouthwash) level DUI laws in order to reduce their risk and losses and make more of the citizens lawbreakers so that the local governments can then profit off the massive fines and fees, and commissions for interlock devices for these "offenses." (Of course, after removing citizens rights to trial by juries in these "criminal" or as with the seat belt laws, invasive and "nanny state" actions along the way).
Or maybe the final solution would be to dump our cars, those money pits that most have become, and work from home, thus conserving energy and also the size of government. Then some of the public sector employees and the pork leeches who use the profits gained at the citizens/consumers expense to then hire lobbyist to extort for more profit or to insure their own economies just might have to be laid off or work, for energy efficiency of course.

Post a CommentThis is one awesome article, Betsy, and so true. Both Obama and McCain are Globalists; seriously, with so many other MORE COMPETENT choices in either party, WHY THEM? They want what the multi-national corporations and banks want, a one-world system where national sovereignty is as extinct as the woolly mammoth! This they achieve by convincing us that we're in a constant state of emergency, causing the gullible masses to voluntarily give up their rights and liberties. LOOK WHAT ALL HAS BEEN LOST SINCE 2000! Even NPR and PBS is censored, thanks to Draconian FCC regulations on broadcasters!
