1. Minnetonka Center for the Arts: This center offers a number of age appropriate summer classes in the various art forms including drawing, sculpture, photography, theatre etc. for boys and girls aged 5-15. Morning and afternoon options are available in many of these summer camp classes. The price is based on type of class as well as the length of the class, most ranging in the price range of $30.00 to $150.00. The camp classes usually run from a 1/2 day session for the younger crowd to a 5 day camp for a teen summer arts camp class. 2. Minnesota Zoo Camp: This summer camp is ideal for those little campers aged 4 to kindergarten. Together with MacPhail Center for Music and The Minnesota Zoo, these 4 day afternoon summer camps are available from Jun. to Aug. Children get to explore animal sounds, motions, and habitats through the magic of musical play. Registration began on 2/10/2011 and the cost is $160.00. 3. Arts on the River Summer Camp: The 9-11 year old campers can partake in this educational summer camp that is held on Jul.5-8, from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. You will be able to play music, bake bread and construct books while exploring the rich culture along the Minneapolis Riverfront district at this summer camp. There will be a new experience everyday at 4 top arts centers that include the Guthrie Theater, Mill City Museum, Mn. Center for Books and Arts, and the McPhail Center for Music. Campers will walk about 3 blocks with camp leaders to each art organization. 4. Team Leadership Development Program-LDP: This program will definitely be a rewarding experience for summer campers aged 8th grade to juniors in high school, sponsored in part by the YMCA. Sessions vary from 6 to 19 days at this summer camp near Loretto, Mn., called Camp Ihuhapi. Campers will participate in life changing team building experiences and many leadership opportunities. 5. Drama Emphasis Summer Camp: This 2 week summer camp for girls 7-16 is available in both June and July. Campers have the opportunity to write, rehearse and perform their own play. They will also learn about lighting and set design. Camp Warren, located near Eveleth, Mn. is a couple hrs. drive north of Minneapolis. The cost for this educational summer camp for those wanting to learn about the dramatic arts is $1205.
