Some of the Best Gadgets Released in the Past Decade

During the past 10 years a number of new innovative high tech gadgets made their way into our lives and changed our ways of doing a number of different things forever. It makes one wonder just how we could have survived before some of these gadgets were invented. Although we all seemed to manage without a number of these latest gadgets, one must admit that they sure do make a difference in our lives since they were introduced. Here is a list of what I consider to be 10 of the top gadgets released in the past decade.

1. E Book Readers: This invention will replace many of the books that are stacked on our bookshelves and libraries across the nation. Printed material will slowly retreat into the background as the E Readers gain popularity. It will certainly help save on waste and I see it as a big boost in our attempts to "going green".

2. Netbooks: This a smaller and cheaper alternative to our laptop and desktop computers. The compact size and mobility of this gadget makes it an attractive addition for computer buffs.

3. iPhone: Probably one of the most popular high tech gadgets of the past decade, the iPhone has a host of practical functions for the consumer. Weather you're hunting for the nearest dining establishment, trading stocks, or just want to start your car remotely, the iPhone is able to assist you.

4. Nintendo Wii: This gadget revolutionized the art of video game playing by pulling gamers off the couch and into the action of game playing. It's not only a lot of fun, but a good exercise tool. It's something a whole room full of individuals can all enjoy by game playing together.

5. GPS: These gadgets are a godsend for the traveler. They are not only a replacement tool for the old paper maps and atlas, but also can pinpoint locations more accurately then ever. Each year the GPS seems to become more innovative with a number of newer features.

6. Blackberry & Smartphones: These seem to be the gadget of choice for cellphone users. With their ability to not only make and receive phone calls & text, but by accessing the Internet and sending and receiving emails, they can keep us in touch with whoever or whatever we may need or want 24/7.

7. Tivo: This digital video recorder gives you the ability to never have to miss your favorite TV program anymore. The high tech device lets you watch your shows commercial free at your leisure.

8. Digital Photo Frames: I never realized the value of this high tech gadget until I visited an elderly aunt of mine who resides in a senior living facility earlier this year. She enjoys looking at hundreds of pictures of her kids and grandkids as they move from one picture to the other within the frame, all automatically.

9. Microsoft X Box 360: This video game system with all its high technology is able to keep gamers happy for hours. It has the ability to play the latest action packed games, which my grandsons of all ages really enjoy.

10. iPod: This little high tech gadget became a cultural icon in the past decade and changed the music industry forever. This digital music player gives one the ability to listen to your favorite tunes wherever you may be without interrupting anyone else and it fits into even the smallest pockets.
