Some Easy Ways to Overcome Writer's Block

TheEntrepreneurDiva
We all have our times where we sit down at our computer ready to write the perfect article, and it's like you can't come up with an idea to save your life. Or even worse, you start the article off great, but then you get stuck with no creative ideas to keep the writing process going. It happens, I've been through it and if you haven't already you will go through it. But the most important thing is learning how to overcome it.

Here are ten simple ways that you can overcome your Writer's Block.

1. Thoroughly Research in the Beginning. If you thoroughly research your topic before writing and gather enough information to complete your article, you don't have to worry about running out of ideas. It is better to over research and have more than enough ideas, than to under research and not have enough ideas. So that means that your research has to be thorough and in depth.

2. Use a voice recorder to record your ideas as soon as they pop in your head. For you experienced writers, you all know that ideas for articles can come from literally anywhere at any time. That's why using a voice recorder can be so convenient. You can carry it where every you go and as soon as you get an idea you can just press record rather wasting time searching for pen and paper. Also it is sometimes easier to speak out your ideas rather than writing them down because you ideas just don't come out the same. And if you ever have to wait to express your ideas until you can reach an computer then you risk forgetting the idea. Trust me, I do it all the time.

3. Don't hesitate to take a time out. A lot of times we are really hard on ourselves when we cannot come up with or remember ideas for our writing. Don't do that! Just take some time away from the computer and your own criticism. Taking breaks can be really good for your creative process. It will get you thinking in a new perspective and it will give you ideas for going into various directions for your writings.

4. Stick to all of the goals and deadlines that you set. You have to be dedicated to sticking to your goals and deadlines if you want to be productive. Goals and deadlines are important because they give your writing process structure. And to stay on task you definitely need structure. To keep up with your goals and deadlines you should consider using calendars, to do lists, graphs, charts, or what ever it is that is going to keep you on task.

5. Do not cram your ideas. Creative ideas need time to process so you have to allow them to flow naturally. You don't want to cram to many ideas at one time because you will burn yourself out and your writing will suffer from it. It's just like cramming for a test the day before as opposed to studying the entire week. You may pass the test, but you won't get the best grade that you can get. It is the same thing in terms of your writing.

6. Choose a writing space that is distraction free.A lot of times household distractions can be the source of writer's block. So it is best that you find a nice quite place in your house where you can enjoy the quiet and think about what you are doing. Now I know that this can be a hard task if you are a stay at home parent with children, but you might want to consider writing when the children are asleep or at school. Most parents find that those are their most productive times in any business venture.

7. Work on more than one writing assignment. For some, it works better for them if they work on more than one assignment at a time. So if one article is giving you a fit, proceed to work on the next one. Most of the time what happens to me is when working on another article, ideas for the previous article will sneak into my mind. That may also work for you.

8. Write your article point by point. Instead of sitting down and trying to write the entire article at one time, try dividing your article point by point and just write point by point. That way as the ideas come to mind you can just organize the ideas how you want them to fall.

9. Search the Internet for good ideas. The Internet is full of resources when you can't come up with your own. So take advantage of Yahoo, Google, Ask, etc. They are sure to keep your creative juices flowing.

10. Check out YouTube! Ok now I know there are some YouTube junkies out there like me and for you guys, check out YouTube. Although we all like to look at the funny videos, the music videos, or even the dancing, there are some educational videos on YouTube. You should type "Article Writing" in the search bar and see what YouTube has to offer. You will find some good ideas there.

So these are my easiest ways that you can use to stop writer's block or perhaps preventing it from happening. These techniques will be very helpful in your writing ventures whether you are a beginner or you have writing experience under your belt.
