Diabetes has become a great threat to the world. The number of people with diabetes has been increasing day by day and the whole world is now in the grip of this killer disease.

Well, type 1 diabetes is known to be the most dangerous of all the diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is known to lead to many complications like heart failure, vision problems, renal complications and nervous problems.

Type 1 diabetes is a condition where the pancreas ceases to produce insulin. This condition arises because the insulin-producing beta cells of the pancreas are affected. When the beta cells are affected, it blocks the production of insulin. An autoimmune disease, the healthy tissues are also affected.

When the pancreas stops producing insulin, glucose builds up in the bloodstream instead of going into the cells. Also known as Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (IDDM), one can come across the symptoms between 10 to 14 years of age.Some of the symptoms of Type 1 diabetes are Feeling tired, Feeling hungry and thirsty, urinating more, losing weight and blurry eyesight.

Though several studies have been done to find out the root cause of type 1 diabetes and several theories have come out, the doctors and researchers are yet to come out with a concrete answer. Some of them attribute the Type 1 diabetes to genes and some others attribute it to environmental factors.

If a person is diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, it is better to start the treatment at the earliest. Normally insulin injections are the preferred treatment for this type of diabetes. If not treated, Type 1 diabetes is lethal.
