Some of My Favorite Asian Food Recipes: Sweet Dumplings

Sweet Dumplings

Wrappings:

1 1/2 cups flour, sifted
3 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup water

Filling:
2 tablespoons flour, roasted in a dry pan until light yellow
1/4 cup raisins, chopped finely
3 tablespoons white sesame seeds, roasted
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon sesame seed oil
oil for deep frying

Mix flour with butter, using fingertips. When well mixed, add salt and water and knead well. Form into 32 balls. Mix ingredients for filling. Roll each ball of dough to form a thin round circle. Place 1 teaspoon filling in center and fold in half. Seal edges with damp fingertips to form a half-moon. Heat oil to 320 degrees and deep fry dumplings until golden brown. Drain and serve cold.
