Some Feel Good Moral & Social Resolutions for New Year 2008

Continued from part I - Part one of this article dealt with resolutions which were more of a personal nature and were related to satisfaction of your senses, but the resolutions given below are more related to social and moral obligations and also provide you a feeling of well being.

Take care of a plant - The best resolution to make is to plant a new sapling and take care of it throughout. You can visit your neighborhood garden and adopt a sapling or tree. This would not only give you a break from your busy schedule and hectic city life but also give you a feeling of caring for living being. The tree you plant would also help our planets environment.

Find and call a long lost friend - Life never stops for anyone and people move on with life, at times people who are best friend loose touch with us. Sometimes our ego prevents us from contacting them though we wish that if they make the first move we would welcome them. Life is too short to keep waiting for the other person to move first. Make a resolution to find and call a long lost friend or too mend your relationship with a friend. This would not only increase your friend circle but would also give you a sense of satisfaction.

Make a resolution to donate - Donation could cover either the things that you don't need or donation in cash. I prefer the former kind as not only it helps me remove things that I don't need, but also makes me sure that the person receiving it would actually use it rather than the cash being stored away in some bank. It depends on us to decide what things we don't need. As a human being our desires for material possessions are innumerous. Whenever we satisfy one desire a new desire awakens. We should control our material desires, this will not only help protect our fragile environment, but would also be good for your pocket.

Take out time to pray - I believe there is a higher power that is responsible for making this whole universe work and somehow we all are connected to that higher power. Prayers are our means to connect with the higher being and also be thankful for all that has been given to us. Praying not only sooths your nerves but also provides you a feeling of calm and composure. If you don't believe in the power of a higher being, then instead of praying you can take to meditation, it would be equally beneficial to your health.
