Make a resolution to do what you enjoy - At times there are activities which we like to do or would like to be done but don't have much time for that activity. For instance I enjoy cleaning my cupboards once in a while and arrange all the articles neatly. But due to time crunch I am not able to do it. So you can make a resolution that you would clean the cabinets at least once a quarter. This will not help you clear unnecessary clutter but would also keep you motivated to keep your other tougher resolutions.
Make a resolution to help someone - As a human being by nature we are helpful, however due to the life's difficulties we sometimes become insensitive to the plight of some other human being. Make a resolution to help a person in need, this would not only give you a moral high but would also help making our society better. Alternatively you can resolve to visit the old age homes in your locality and help the senior citizens over there in what ever way you can. The idea is not to just resolve and wait for opportunity to help but rather than actively seek out places where you can help.
Eat what you like - Make a resolution to reward yourself every time you complete a resolution. Yes, I like this one best. A mans heart is through his stomach and due to health or other reasons a lot of us are not able to indulge in things we would like to eat. So next time you want to eat a chocolate filled doughnut wait till you have completed your resolution. You can also specify which resolutions are tough and qualify for a higher level (Calorie wise) reward and which resolutions are easier to keep and require a nominal reward.
The above suggested resolutions deal more with your personal self and gratification of your senses. You may also be interested in part II of this article which deals with resolutions which are more social and moral in nature and give you a sense of well being.
